ABI was introduced in the Nihon Keizai Shimbun “Boost to Regenerative Medicine Research, Companies Move toward Commercialization-“.

Below is an overview.

ABI, a freezing equipment manufacturer, is working with the University of Tokyo and the Chiba Prefectural Industrial Promotion Center to develop technology for freezing and thawing stem cells such as iPS cells. Compared to other cells, iPS cells have extremely low cell viability after freezing and thawing. By applying the “CAS technology” developed by ABI that freezes cell tissues without destroying them, we aim to stably store human iPS cells and stem cells for a long period of time. If realized, research and development of regenerative medicine is likely to accelerate significantly. The company plans to develop the equipment in 5 years and start selling it.
